Acoustic Guitar Magazine App Reviews

Glad i didnt subscribe...

I really wanted to like this app. I knew about paying for the subscription, and that was not an issue for me. I downloaded a free issue first though to make sure it rendered well. There are some great features, especially embedded videos. However, i was unable to read the articles easily. Pinch and zoom does work but each sentence would have required moving the screen back and forth. So i unlocked portrait orientation to read in landscape as i find that easier on websites sometimes. In this app though landscape renders two and sometimes three pages across the screen, and it did not respond to my attempts to zoom. In general i find the kindle app for iphone to produce much better results for magazine subscriptions, but even among apple store offerings this was not the best quality magazine i have seen.

Frustrating, cheap, deleted

Advertised as free. Leads one to believe youre getting a sample issue. Not the case. After downloading and launching you can only purchase an issue for $7. A real turn off. Shame on acoustic guitar magazine.

Acoustic Guitar

Purchased a years subscription from my iPad. Wanted it more for the access to the web content than the actual magazine. No access to web content. Despite buying the subscription from Acoustic Guitar Magazines website you lose the website access feature of the subscription if you sign on from a mobile device and pay through iTunes. Same price if you sign on from a desktop or mobile device yet iTunes purchases are penalized. Emailed customer support and got no where. Called and spoke to a very nice lady who assured me someone would get back to me on Monday. Its now Wednesday. Just an all around bad experience with this rag. Wont be subscribing next year. Which is a shame because they really do have some good articles.

Come on guys

Purchased a $40 "club" level membership from the AG website to get access to web content and "digital editions of AG magazine". Apparently digital editions dont include ipad editions, they are two separate subscriptions with no way of getting both. Really disappointing user experience. If you want the ability to read the mag on your portable devices, opt for the digital subscription through AGs website. This app is a waste of time.

Have to pay twice? Three times?

Print subscribers have to pay for the digital editions. I paid extra for the AG Club to get the online version. Yes, you get it online but not on iPad. Makes no sense. Im supposed to pay yet a third time? I like the magazine but having to pay yet again for the iPad version when Im paying extra for the club too? Useless and horrible customer relations. I may just let my subscription drop.

Confusing subscription benefits!

The magazine is wonderful, and keeps getting better. Ive been a subscriber for about 8 years now, and purchased the Club membership. I think I was getting the digital subscription that is now on the Newsstand, but Im actually not sure. After IOS7 it was gone, and Im waiting for support from PixelMags. There are two other options that work (or at least they allow you to carry editions on your iPad). If you download the .pdf issue on your computer, you can then add it to iTunes and it will appear with your Books. When you synch (with a cable) to your computer the .pdf copy will appear with the iBooks app. I dont know if thats as good as the iPad issue that some "critical" reviews mention, but it works for me. You can also sign into Acoustic Guitar on your Safari or other browser on your iPad. That will allow you to look at the digital edition on the iPad web page, but I find it less useful than my first suggestion, because youre working from a smaller image. I wish they would resolve this problem and give subscribers what they have paid for. I would have given it 5 stars, but took away one because of this frustrating iPad problem.

AG - stop annoying your subscribers who use iPad

I was looking for access to both a print and digital edition of Acoustic Guitar for one reasonable price. Unfortunately, the combined print + digital subscription that AG magazine offers requires you to access the digital version in a time-consuming and clumsy way that is not friendly to the iPad. Separately, Pixel Magazines, which offers an iPad version of AG, charges a fortune for it and provides no print edition. This is a real failure on AG magazine’s part. AG should create its own iPad app for use by its subscribers. The failure to do this shows a real lack of concern for AG’s many subscribers who use the iPad.

Shorted me my final issue

After emailing and calling them about not getting all 12 issues they told referred me to ITunes. I purchased the subscription with their ap, but they dont support it. They lost my business.

Paid Subscriber

iPad app does not work with iPad 1. Option to download older version does not work. Customer Service has not responded to any of my three requests. Ive missed two issues so far. Extremely frustrating.

Subscription not acknowledged

I purchased a subscription to the digital version but every time I try to download an issue I’m asked to subscribe AGAIN or PAY for the the individual issue.

Ruined a decent magazine

Ive been a long time subscriber and generally have enjoyed the content, but the updated app is a frustrating mess. What little content there is seems hard to access now. My emails to the company went unanswered, and now I see they have raised the price for renewal. Fat chance. Nice job destroying your subscriber base.

Horrible

I had a subscription and several issues downloaded on my ipad. With the latest app update I lost access to downloaded issues with no option to download them again. This app is super unreliable.

Really?

Everything worked fine until the update. Now. Nothing. Says I need to update the app in the App Store, but there is no option to do so. Boo!!

A complete failure

No access to either web or newsstand content on the iPad

Dont bother

App was working great last week. Until the app is updated to work with ios8, dont bother to download.

Not working, waste of money.

What a load of crap. Seriously, I spent hard earned money for an ad filled magazine that wont even run on my iPad any more. Dont waste your money on this boondoggle.

App fails with IOS 8 and no response from their support desk

Save the money they charge to use this app and just read the printed magazine. Since the iOS 8 upgrade the app has completely stopped working. You cant read any past issues previously downloaded and the app just locks up attempting to download new issues. Repeatedly contacted their support for help and I have never gotten any response or assistance. They just have ignored the problem. Apple should just remove this app from iTunes.

Not working after update

Cant access my issues anymore. After entering credentials it says I need to pay my issues that I already paid for. Keeps crashing. I called the magazine they (with a major crappy attitude) said to call Apple..ya right..please fix

Acoustic guitar one star to many

After hours burnt trying to put lipstick on this app I have given up. Lost all back issue with only partial refund. Waste of time.glad this happened prior to loosing access to years of back issues. Hats off to apple for stepping up. Acoustic guitar mag is the worst experience I have had for subscription.

App no longer works

I just renewed my subscription and now can no longer access any old issues or the latest one - it seems to be related to IOS 8 - but the app says I need an updated version- which is not available yet, apparently. Please fix this! Or give me a refund! Update 10/1/14 Spoke to AG "customer service" - they say its not their problem - its Apples, and Im not really a subscriber since I purchased this through iTunes. Sorry - nothing can be done. Astounding.
